The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.

Dr. David A. Baker
Dr. David A. Baker is a proud sixth generation Texan.  Dr. Baker decided at the age of six that he wanted to pursue dentistry, after being inspired by Hermey, the dentist from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.  Dr. Baker attended the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Dental School from 1984-1988.  He scored in the top 2% of the nation in Endodontics and Periodontics.  He also received the General Practice Award.

Upon graduating from dental school, Dr. Baker worked as an associate at the Dental Center of Lufkin from 1988-1990.  In 1990, Dr. Baker decided to open his own practice, the Dental Center of Nacogdoches.  After he sold the Dental Center of Nacogdoches, he purchased Family Dental Care from Dr. Bill Buccholtz in 1997.  Dr. Baker attends an average of 30 hours of continuing education every year.  Dr. Baker has three children, Erin, Megan, and Brent.  He is also actively involved with his church, St. John Neuman.

When not busy practicing dentistry, Dr. Baker helped Al Gore invent the internet.  He is also the founding, and sole, member of Westlake Hunting & Fishing Club.  He was the inventor of the semicolon and the right side parenthesis.  Currently, he is waiting to be asked by the federal government for help with Middle East Peace process.  You are welcome to ask Dr. Baker's opinion on any subject, he will be happy to give it to you!

Shirley
Shirley has been a practicing hygienist since 1989.  Her favorite part of her job is to see patients get excited about their dental health.  “We offer some of the latest techniques in dentistry and I find these generational transitions to be very exciting.  When my patients get excited, well, it just fuels my excitement for them.”

Julia
Julia has been practicing dental hygiene for 30 years. “The current trends and scientific research in this field keeps me enthusiastic about dentistry.  Sharing this information to educate my patients brings me great satisfaction.”  She is known to be both gentle and thorough in treating the patients to make dentistry a pleasant experience.

Misty
Misty has been our Hygiene Coordinator since 2007. Her bright personality and caring attitude is truly an asset to our office. She is quick to help our patients and answer their questions regarding their dental care.

Rishonda
Rishonda has worked in dentistry since 1997.  She has worked been Dr. Baker's Chairside Assistant since 2001.   Assisting the patients with their scheduling needs, going over treatment and financial options is just a beginning for all that Rishonda offers to the patients.

Kim
Kim has more than 10 year's dental experience working in a dental front office.  She has worked with Dr. Baker since 1998.  Taking pride in providing the best customer service for our patients is a priority for her.  Some of the services she provides includes scheduling, helping patients maximize their insurance to their benefit, treatment presentation, and patient liaison.

Deanna
Deanna has been one of Dr. Baker's chairside assistants since 2009. She is no stranger to dentistry, having been in the profession for over 15 years. Educating patients about their dental needs and making their visits comfortable are just two of her strong points.
